It’s been a while. Here are things I’ve been getting into lately.
Gungrave
Gungrave is a PS2 game released in 2002, and I think it's cool as hell. Its the first PS2 game I’ve played (I know I’m late), so the controls are kind of ass, but honestly, it’s part of the charm. It kind of reminds me of Postal, in the sense that it's a shooting people simulator. Like, all the enemies are very easy. They fall like dominoes. It's super satisfying to make combos, too.
The art direction is what drew me to the game. I'm a sucker for edgy 2000s media, so I knew I would like it. The creator of Trigun worked on it, so it makes sense. Big coats and big guns.
Gachiakuta
I think this is one of the best new shonen manga out right now. It’s got everything I want. It's dystopian and dystopian, has W worldbuilding, really strong character design, AND BLACK PEOPLE!!!.
After finishing Jujutsu Kaisen, I was craving a shonen series that felt intentional. Gachiakuta is it. You can tell the mangaka (Urana Kei) is actually passionate and thinks about what she’s doing. The story has something to say, and it says it well. Also, Kei is a woman, so it adds a new perspective, especially in a genre that can get a bit samey.
The fandom is already actually dogwater, so I will not be interacting at all. Everyone is already insufferable. I’m happy to say that I’m an OG of watching it.
Umamusume
Fuuuuucckkkk I love my anime girl slop. Umamusume is peak. It makes me so irrationally happy. The concept is objectively insane, but it works.
I’m currently saving up for Meisho Doto, who drops in 3 days. If I don’t pull her, I will crash the fuck out. I’m so serious. I’ve been hoarding carats for weeks. Please pray for me.
Black Butler
I’ve also (finally) gotten into Black Butler and I’m obsessed. I love the aesthetic and characters. The show is actually lowkey funny, and the drama is really good. It's a pedogem in a sea of pedoslop.
Anyway, that’s all I got. I’m still autistic as fuck about Sonic and Vocaloid. Fortnite has fallen off. Sky Blue is cuddling me right now, and I’m very happy.
